Welcome to Discussing Disney!

I have always had some varying degree of fascination with Walt Disney World. Many summers were spent visiting my Grandma on the west coast of Florida. Most of those trips involved a day at the Magic Kingdom and usually a trip to the much closer Busch Gardens. I enjoyed Busch Gardens but there was some sort of emotional connection formed with the Magic Kingdom. I think it had a lot to do with the theme of keep dreaming and you can do anything. It elicited a feeling of joy that the standard amusement park can’t achieve. Even as a young child I knew they were playing on different levels. The Magic Kingdom was always the highlight of any trip followed by the occasional excursion to the then MGM studios. These vacations continued usually every other year.

I was never really obsessed with the parks. I didn’t follow the latest news or read any Disney history. My only knowledge of new attractions was seeing them while visiting. Then a couple of years ago the news broke revealing the concept art for New Fantasyland.

Something clicked inside my head. I had to find out more, not just about the New Fantasyland but about park history, attractions, restaurants, and resorts. From then on it was nonstop forum surfing and wikipedia reading. They have me and I am afraid I am a lifer.

Last year I had my honeymoon at Walt Disney World. We experienced EPCOT and the Animal Kingdom for the first time. It was perfect. The best vacation I have ever had. The treatment we received from Cast Members was top notch. Royalty for a week is a good description of the experience. A post detailing the entire trip is forthcoming.

A few months ago I started digging myself in deeper by beginning to listen to several Disney related podcasts. WDWNT, The Laughing Place, and The Hub. Seeing what these people have achieved inspired me. Why can’t I do this. I think maybe I can bring something to the table. So here we are. Welcome to Step 1 of my brute force insertion to the Disney Community. Discussing Disney. I was honestly surprised this name wasn’t taken. I have a lot of dreams and ideas for this site. Step 2 is an audio podcast, hopefully. I have put a lot of work into this website and there is a lot that still needs to be done. So if it still looks slightly incomplete well that is because it is. Let me know if you experience any strange behavior.

So what will you see here? If all goes according to plan you will see the latest Disney news, opinion pieces, trip reports, movie reviews, attraction reviews, and whatever else comes to fruition. Most importantly I need you. Fans, friends, and followers. You can help construct a new Disney community. Want to write, moderate, or cohost a podcast? All of the above? Just let me know. I have set out to make something special, a place where everyone can come and feel like they belong. I need you to do that and a little Disney magic wouldn’t hurt either.
